Peter Fisk TD, BEng, Dip HS, MInstRE

MANAGING DIRECTOR

 

Peter studied civil engineering and hydrographic surveying at Plymouth before embarking on a career as a Hydrographic Surveyor with Wimpol Ltd where he participated in numerous cable route surveys and installations.

 

He transferred from his reserve military post to full time service in the Royal Engineers in the mid 1990's and served in several operational theatres from Bosnia to East Africa.

 

He left the Army in 1998 and worked as a freelance consultant in the submarine cable industry managing many cable-related projects including; route engineering, route surveys, route clearance, post lay inspection and burial and rock dumping. One area of specialisation was marine permitting and Peter eventually took a post as Senior Permits Manager for Tyco Telecommunications.

 

In 2002 Peter established Pelagian Limited as a submarine cable consultancy and personnel supply agency. He has seen the company grow into a major player, supplying professional consultancy services and personnel to purchasers, installers, survey companies and others across the whole spectrum of the submarine cable industry, worldwide.

 

Pete is the Managing Director of Pelagian and is responsible for business strategy. He still acts as the prime consultant specializing in marine permitting and corporate business development.

 

Justin Hawkins BSc (Hons)

GENERAL MANAGER

 

Justin studied surveying and mapping sciences at the University of East London, graduating in 1990 and joined Wimpol Ltd as a Hydrographic Surveyor. Justin was part of the team responsible for the implementation of the Simrad EM12 onboard RV Ocean Surveyor, which was the world's first commercially available deepwater multibeam survey vessel. He worked on a number of high profile cable surveys including FLAG, TAT10 and various projects in the Caribbean and South America.

 

In 1996 Justin joined SAGE Survey and worked as a Project Manager in the oil/gas and dredging sectors. During this time he project managed the survey of the Bonny Channel Capital Dredging project in Nigeria, a 10 month campaign of dredging for Shell.

 

In 1999 Justin became a freelance hydrographic consultant and joined Alcatel Submarine Networks as a Senior Cable Engineer. He specialised in desk top studies, Makai route engineering, cable manufacturing and armour selection and burial assessment studies.


In 2007 Justin joined Pelagian as a submarine cable consultant and in 2008 became the General Manager providing technical and commercial direction to the company and continuing to provide key consultancy skills to the business.

 

Ivan Lees

INSTALLATION MANAGER

 

Ivan started his career at sea in 1985 when he joined the Royal Navy serving until 1998, with operations in the former Yugoslavia and Northern Ireland. Primarily he was employed as a Seaman and his specialist field was Sonar and Oceanography.

 

Ivan joined Pelagian in May 2003 having worked in the offshore industry as an ROV Pilot and Technician at Canyon Offshore specialising in the ST200 series trenching vehicle. He also worked for Engineering Technology Applications gaining a huge amount of experience on cable installations, Route Clearance and Post Lay Inspection and Burial operations.

 

The last two years has seen Ivan take on challenging project management roles on behalf of Tyco Telecommunications for the installation of the MATRIX and VSNL-IA cable systems. During this time he was required to live and work in Singapore, which involved regular travel throughout the Far East. Ivan has also represented Alcatel-Lucent on numerous shore end installations and cable landings.

 

Ivan brings a wealth of practical engineering experience to Pelagian and is the Installation Manager responsible for promoting cable installation, shore end and route clearance capabilities. He is the main point of contact for Pelagian's RC/PLGR equipment capability.

 

Rupert Ladds BEng (Hons), PGDip (Survey)

PERSONNEL MANAGER

 

Rupert studied Mechanical Engineering at Plymouth, specialising in offshore construction and fluid mechanics. He has a strong background in personnel and operational planning gained whilst working in the HM Forces and over10 years experience as a project manager on both IT and Construction projects. 

 

Rupert served with the Regular Army from 1990 to 1995 and served in the former Yugoslavia, Spain, New Zealand, Namibia, Germany, Norway and France.  On leaving the Regular Army he joined the reserve forces and was mobilised in 2004 for service in Iraq and UK.

 

Rupert has been Pelagian's personnel manager since 2007 and has overseen the introduction of a comprehensive personnel database and organises the day to day running of the personnel department. He regularly attends industry and trade events promoting Pelagian's personnel capability.

 

Rupert is the main point of contact for Pelagian's customers and is responsible for helping them find the right personnel at the right time.

 

Amanda Fisk TD, BSc (Hons), MBA, ACIB,

MInstRE FINANCE MANAGER

 

Amanda studied Geography at Durham University before joining Lloyds Bank as a Management Trainee. After 12 years in various management roles within both Commercial and Corporate Banking at Lloyds, she decamped to the West Country to do a Masters in Business Administration at Bath University.

 

In 2002 Amanda moved into industry, becoming the EMEA Credit and Trade Finance Manager for Dell Computer Corporation. There she managed a team dealing with all aspects of credit collection, analysis and financing of a distributor network in over 80 different emerging markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

 

After 5 years at Dell, she then moved to Intel Corporation to be a European Credit Analyst, within their Treasury organisation.

 

Amanda joined Pelagian in 2008 as the Finance Manager and is the primary contact for all matters associated with Finance.

 

Rebecca Collard BSc (Hons)

ACCOUNTS MANAGER

 

Rebecca has been working for Pelagian since 2008. She is responsible for the day to day running of Pelagian's invoicing and accounts and is the first point of contact with our customer's accounts departments.

 

Rebecca has a BSc (Hons) in Public Services.

 

Clare Taubenheim LLB (Hons)

PERSONNEL CONSULTANT

 

Clare is the newest member of the Pelagian team, having joined the company in early 2009. She has a background in business law and commerce, with an LLB (Hons) in Business Law.

 

Clare is responsible for the day to day running of the Pelagian personnel database and is the main point of contact with our wide selection of offshore personnel and consultants.

 

She is responsible for confirming their availability for work, monitoring their professional, safety and medical certification and organising their visa and travel arrangements.
